February 2022 Home News

February 2022 Home NewsThere are a few constants this time of year. The weather is slowly starting to get colder, we’re all anxious for COVID to go away and you will find a monthly news recap on the Australian Heritage Homes blog. You’ll get the perfect amount of information to entice and incentivize you to build or enhance your next dream home and we promise – we’re the team to support. So, let’s entice and incentivize you! Here are some of our favourite stories and articles this month to get the creative juices flowing:

It all starts with the architect. And while we’re a bit biased about being one of the premier companies in the area to work with, we also want to generally advise about what to look for and what not to look for. Without sounding dramatic, it’s a bit like finding a life partner, as this article will tell you. You’re going to be spending a lot of time with them, you’re going to need to make a lot of decisions together and, oh yeah, there’s money involved – yours. There are many great pieces of advice in this article, but one of our favourites that you don’t frequently think about is their specialization. Many architects specialize in designing and helping to build different styles of homes. Think through your vision first and learn more here.

We work with all sorts of customers, and some have the vision referenced above right away and others need a little bit of poking and prodding (and some trial and error) to determine what works best for them. This is where the custom home building comes in – something that the AHH team is very familiar with. When you do a custom build, you have a lot more control over what your home will eventually look like, which can be very satisfying, but it can also be more time-consuming. This article is one of many on this site that can help sway you in one direction or the other. Learn more here.

It should come as no shock that in January you see a spike in exercise and healthy living… for a month. In fact, it’s an astronomical number of people who drop this as a New Year’s resolution within those first 31 days. For those that stick it out (or pick it back up), this one is for you. We’re talking about home gyms and we’re talking about doing them correctly. As this article shares, you’re already looking at a shorter commute, the autonomy over how it’s designed like we were discussing above and the ease of knowing that a hot shower after a long workout is steps away versus a long drive. Location, style, equipment, and space – these are all items that it discusses and if you think this is the right route for you, let us know.

Questions about any of these articles or about your home in general? The AHH team is always available to help.
