Painting 101 (Part 1 of many)

Painting 101For some reason, painting is one of the most hated home renovation projects. You hear that you need to do it and you just get visuals of peeling, old, stained windows. You think about the equipment you’ll need, the costs associated and how it will take away from another weekend where you could be doing something far more enjoyable. That said, it’s also one of the projects around the home that’s the most satisfying. Yes, it’s a workout, but when it’s completed, you can step back and say – I did that. Or maybe that’s just the feeling that the team at Australian Heritage Homes gets. It makes sense; we’re incredibly passionate about every aspect of designing your dream home. We get just as excited when we get to share said information on the AHH blog – your hub for everything that you need to know about your home. We’re talking design, construction, real estate, landscaping, everything that you can think of. And today, that means that we’re talking about painting.

First heads up, there are experts for everything. And thanks to the Information Age and the World Wide Web, they’re at your fingertips, 24/7. If you go the expert route, we endorse, because you know that the job will be done well. It will also mean costs incurred, so make sure that you’re prepared for that trade-off.

Wavering? Painting your home is easier than you may think. Whether it’s inside, outside, the ground, anywhere – said-Information Age has tutorials to make you feel truly comfortable. We know that the information can be really overwhelming in articles like these, so for our kick-off, we’re keeping in short, sweet and simple. That said, the team at AHH is always available for any questions – email, phone, even in-person. We’re always looking to grow, and we’re always looking to take care of you. Here are our easy painting tips to follow:

  • Keep sheen in mind and look for the right fit for your home. There’s no wrong or right answer here, it should make you feel comfortable and happy. Things to take into account are lighting, furniture and mood.
  • That being said, have fun with colors! You have a huge piece of real estate to bring a space to life and a wall color can be an important tool here.
  • Test things out first. It never hurts to a little bit of extra homework, especially if you’re working with an investment as important as your home. Paint stores are more and more frequently adding opportunities to leverage paint samples before you sign on the dotted line.
  • Measure, measure, measure! You’ll need supplies like painters’ tape, but you’ll also need to know the dimensions of elements like windows, so that you can plan around these.

Like we said, this is post one of many. The team here has a wealth of knowledge that we can’t wait to impart on you. Stay tuned for more information.
