Home Renovations for a Cause

Home Renovations for a CauseAs unfortunate as it is, not everyone in the world has a roof over their heads. In some countries, the population feels like to use banana leaves or clay mud to create protection from the rain and the elements. In some areas, there is a huge disconnect between different neighbourhoods, with the poverty line rising and many falling short with their monthly incomes. Luckily, we also live in a day and an age where compassion and awareness are present. Sometimes it’s hard to find them, but you know that if you visit the Australian Heritage Homes site, you’ll run into them in some capacity.

If this is your first time on the blog, welcome! We’re thrilled to have you here and to help you build your dream home. We’re passionate about custom homes and everything associated. We love our industry, we love our teammates, we even love our competition. But most of all, we love our customers, and that’s why we do things like contribute to this blog. Our goal is to educate you, to motivate you and to inspire you to complete the projects that will make your home as special as you. Today, we’re focusing on the inspiration piece and highlighting projects and initiatives around the globe that are creating home renovations for a cause.

Lowe’s Home Improvement and Rebuilding Together, has helped contribute to the refurbishment of dozens of homes for those in need. The program provides free home repairs and modifications that make a world of different to the families and individuals that they support. Many work long hours at multiple jobs just to make ends meet and put food on the table. They don’t have the time, the materials, the money or the energy, to properly make sure that their homes are safe and comfortable. You can learn more about this program and others like it, in an article here.

There’s one more that we’d like to share today. This is thanks to a team called the HBA Restoring Home Foundation, a project started almost ten years ago after the ABC show “Extreme Makeover: Home Addition” taped an episode in the area. Winners of renovations are chosen because of reasons that they deserve it. The most recent winner spends long hours working two jobs to support her kids. She says that she’s overcome multiple difficult challenges in recent years and that this truly means the world to her and her family. Volunteers range in age from your children, all the way through the elderly, with everyone coming together to support a really important cause.

We hope that these stories inspire you as much as they inspire us. It just gives us even more incentive to get out in the community and make sure that every inhabitant is in a safe and comfortable house, where they can make generations of memories.
